Rue
Ruta graveolens Family: Rutaceae
Overview
Rue is a potent herb with a rich history of spiritual and magical use, known especially for its strong protective and cleansing qualities. Traditionally used to ward off negative energy, break curses, and clear spiritual blockages, Rue is a staple in uncrossing rituals and purification baths. Its bitter aroma and powerful energy have made it a favorite in folk magic across cultures. While it was once used medicinally, Rue is no longer recommended for internal use due to its toxicity—particularly for pregnant individuals. In the home, Rue may be burned as incense, added to washes, or placed above doorways to guard against harm.
